Mitch Coats Achieves Highest Teaching Certification
Friday, July 9th, 2010FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Champion Achieves Highest Teaching Certification
(Boise, Idaho) Alliance Jiu Jitsu, the number one ranked Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) team in the world for the last three years running, is proud to announce Mitch Coats Professor and Brazilian Black Belt and top ranked American team leader, has successfully achieved his certification in advanced studies to further his teaching within the international Alliance organization.
Along with Co-founders Alexandre “Gigi” Paiva, Romero “Jacare” Cavalcanti, and Fabio “the General” Gurgel, Mitch and his team have taken a bold step towards unifying and documenting the system of the most effective sport in all martial arts. This worldwide system will standardize and globalize the BJJ curriculum for all students and allow every student to set specific goals with achievable results proven to work worldwide. The unification of the curriculum and teaching techniques will increase the abilities for training and competing abroad for all students. Gigi has awarded only 60 black belts in his long career and Mitch is the only American to receive one from him.
About Mitch Coats:
Mitch Coats was born in Iowa in 1981. Prior to achieving his Brazilian black belt in 2009, he was Pacific Northwest Teen Bodybuilding champion, an undefeated MMA fighter, a High School Varsity wrestler and a champion bareback bronc rider.
Mitch has won Jiu Jitsu titles at the 7th, 9th and 11th annual Grapplers Quest West Coast Championships, 2nd annual Pacific Northwest BJJ Championships, 2007 Grapplers Quest U.S. Nationals, and the Ultimate Submission Experience. 2008 NAGA Vegas 3rd in the Brown/Black belt middle weight. 2009 NAGA Vegas 1st in the Brown/Black belt middle weight and competed in Brazil 4 times.
Knowing his passion for excellence and desire to teach others how to achieve their goals, in 2003, after training in Brazil the prior two years one month at a time, he relocated to Brazil to study BJJ full time. Mitch’s main goal was to ultimately achieve his black belt and bring back the lessons he learned overseas to America to build a world class team of martial artists, top ranked competitors and create a safe and positive environment to help nurture future leaders who subscribe to the belief of competition and world-class training. Mitch, a 13-year Boise resident, along with his wife Stephanie, maintains his conveniently located headquarters on Orchard Street, one block north of I-84.
